perma STAR VARIO LONG RANGE

At the core of the system’s connectivity is the Gateway LONG RANGE, which uses LoRaWAN® network architecture to communicate with the lubricators over long distances. 

Gateways relay data securely between lubrication systems and the perma CONNECT platform, enabling reliable communication up to 2 km, depending on site conditions. Each gateway can support up to 2,000 lubrication systems. 
 
Data from the Gateway LONG RANGE is transmitted via cellular backhaul using the supplied data SIM card, allowing lubrication status and control information to be securely delivered to perma CONNECT without reliance on local IT infrastructure. 

What this delivers in practice: 

• Centralised lubrication management across large or spread out sites
• Reduced need for regular physical inspection of lubrication systems
• Scalable infrastructure to support expansion of lubrication programs

Communication is encrypted using AES128 data encryption and designed in line with recognised data security standards, providing confidence for industrial and enterprise environments. 

Using perma CONNECT, maintenance teams can configure, monitor, and manage all perma STAR VARIO LONG RANGE lubricators remotely. 

Each lubricator sends regular status updates, with additional updates triggered by status changes, ensuring maintenance teams remain informed without routine inspections. 

Remote functionality includes: 

• Monitoring of lubricator status and historical data 
• Adjusting discharge periods and settings 
• Turning lubrication systems on or off 
• Initiating purge cycles when required 

This level of remote oversight supports proactive maintenance planning, reduces labour requirements, and improves responsiveness to changing operating conditions. 

perma STAR VARIO LONG RANGE is designed with an intrinsically safe drive system, certified for use in hazardous areas. 

• Suitable for Zone 2 (gases and vapours) 
• Suitable for Zone 22 (dust atmospheres) 

The lubricator can be installed within hazardous areas, while lubricator status confirmation and control are handled via a non‑Ex Gateway located outside the hazardous area, supporting safe operation and compliance without compromising remote functionality.

perma STAR VARIO LONG RANGE is based on the proven perma STAR VARIO electromechanical platform, combining precision lubrication with robust industrial design. 

Core system features include: 

• Electromechanical drive with controlled lubricant discharge 
• Weekly or monthly discharge settings for flexible service planning 
• Lubricant canister (LC) sizes of 60, 120, 250, and 500 cm³ 
• Pressure build‑up up to 7.5 bar 
• Backlit LCD display with push‑button control 
• LED status indicators for at‑a‑glance system feedback
